DJI impresses with the speed with which it churns out heavy updates for its drones. Not even time to breathe after the launch of the Inspire 3, dedicated to high-resolution cinema launched just over a month ago, that two weeks later comes the Mavic 3 Pro for photographers to leave us speechless with its three cameras. And today another major announcement, Matrice 350 RTK, a high-end commercial drone designed for operations in areas such as public safety, energy, mapping, infrastructure or forestry, to name a few.

4 antennas for the most powerful Matrice ever

With a maximum flight time of 55 minutes (under ideal conditions, i.e., no wind, no payload, and at 8 meters per second, equivalent to just under 30 km/h), the M350 RTK has a payload capacity of 2.7 kg, allowing operators the choice of a wide range of payloads.

In addition, the new DJI O3 Enterprise transmission offers users peace of mind with a 3-channel 1080p HD live feed – which necessarily requires two operators, one for the drone and one for the cameras – and a maximum transmission distance of 20 km in FCC and unobstructed that is achieved with a 4-antenna transceiver system, which can intelligently select the optimal 2 antennas to transmit signals, while the 4 antennas receive signals simultaneously.

In this way, anti-interference capabilities are greatly improved and transmission stability is optimized.

Safety even if it rains and at night. Maybe with radar

One of the application fields of the Matrix is civil defense and general search and rescue, so it is not uncommon for operations to take place at night and in bad weather.

For this reason, the IP rating of M350 RTK has been upgraded from IP45 to IP55, including the FPV camera, to provide better navigation during night flights. M350 RTK also adds a new arm-lock detection function to avoid the risk of arms unlocking during flight, alleviating pilot concerns.

Concerns are also reduced with a 6-way binocular vision system and an infrared detection system to improve situational awareness and ensure positioning and obstacle detection in 6 directions, providing complete protection during flight, although it should be kept in mind that both infrared and visual detection still have blind zones.

So in more complex situations, navigation safety can still be increased with a CSM radar that can be purchased separately. The radar is installed on top of the drone, and detects obstacles up to 30 m away, although much depends on the nature of the obstacle..

In addition, M350 RTK incorporates a multilayer redundancy design in both the aircraft and the sensor system, enabling safer operations in harsh environments.

Remote control

M350 RTK comes with DJI RC Plus radio control as standard, featuring a 7-inch high-brightness screen, Dual Operator mode option, and an operational range of up to 6 hours with a standard WB37 external battery.

Dust and water resistant according to IP54 rating and with an operating temperature of -20° to 50° so it can operate around the clock even in very hot or cold environments.

Controller buttons and dials on the front, back, and top and customizable button functions provide an intuitive and flexible experience to meet user preferences.

RC Plus’ app, Pilot 2, further enhances efficiency by providing a full range of options for managing the drone and each project from start to finish.

Intelligent functions

Intelligent functions can greatly increase the efficiency and safety of any situation.

AI Spot Check can be used to automate routine inspections and capture consistent results every time; PinPoint can be used to mark an object by touch and have its coordinates calculated and projected as an icon in AR on all camera views, which is especially useful in search and rescue operations.

Improved Battery

M350 RTK’s new TB65 battery has a 100% increased cycle count and can be charged up to 400 cycles, reducing the cost of a single flight. Its dual battery system supports hot swapping of batteries and allows multiple flights without recharging.

Also new is the BS65 intelligent battery station that offers a complete solution for battery charging, storage, and transportation.

Multiple charging modes allow the operator to select the best option, such as charging the battery up to 50 percent in storage mode (if the battery will not be used again for an extended period of time) or Ready-to-Fly mode, which quickly charges multiple sets of batteries to 90 percent, to ensure they are operational at all times and extend battery life.

When the battery station is connected to DJI RC Plus, the DJI Pilot 2 app will display battery status and health information. In addition, the user can set the number of days of self-discharge, update firmware, export logs, and access other quick one-touch operations.

The battery station is designed with wheels with 360-degree movement for easy transportation.

Payloads for all needs

The M350 RTK supports a single downward gimbal, or 2 downward gimbals by purchasing the connector separately, and a single upward gimbal (again, the connector must be purchased separately) and features an open E-Port interface.

With a maximum payload capacity of 2.7 kg, the aircraft can carry up to 3 payloads simultaneously (purchased separately), meeting the needs of different operational scenarios such as public safety, inspection, and mapping.

  • Zenmuse H20 Series: The 4 sensors in the zoom camera, wide-angle camera, thermal camera, and laser rangefinder work together, integrating advanced intelligent algorithms to deliver outstanding sensing and imaging performance.
  • Zenmuse H20N integrates starlight sensors into its wide-angle zoom cameras. Combine that with two thermal zoom cameras and a laser distance detector, and the user gets a hybrid payload perfect for any occasion.
  • Zenmuse P1 integrates a full frame sensor with fixed focus interchangeable lenses on a 3-axis stabilizer. Designed for photogrammetry flight missions, it takes efficiency and precision to a whole new level.
  • Zenmuse L1 integrates a Livox Lidar module, a high-precision IMU and a mapping camera. Used together with a flight platform, it forms a complete solution, providing real-time 3D data throughout the day, efficiently capturing details of complex structures and providing highly accurate reconstructed models.
